Trainer Trevor Williams -- scoring three wins on the day -- took the pair of featured events on the nine-race card at the Miami Fair Saturday (Aug. 22).

Gray Zee powered first over to land a nose in front on the finish of a 2:00.1 mile in the $2,450 Open Pace. Saskabush Steve set the tempo through fractions of :31, 1:02.1 and 1:31.1, not facing a challenge until driver Michel Rey launched Gray Zee from fourth up the backstretch. The seven-year-old I Zee gelding edged to a slight lead moving to the final turn, lost ground coming into the stretch but recouped and slid by Saskabush Steve to win in the final strides. Charlies Dragon took third.

Owned by Annabelle Pirie, Gray Zee won his second race from nine starts this season and his 31st from 150 overall, earning $160,021. He paid $3.40 to win.

Michel Rey also steered Williams trainee Ask For Me to a five-length romp in the $2,350 Fillies & Mares Open Pace. Rey cleared command with the six-year-old Mister Big mare and faced little challenge through fractions of :30.1, 1:00.1 and 1:30. Sprinttothefinish tipped first over moving to three-quarters but began to backtrack into the final turn, forcing Tami Blue three wide as she rallied from the back. Ask For Me strolled to a 2:00 win chased by Tami Blue while pocket-sitter Somewhere Ideal faded to third.

Owned by Trevor Williams, Ask For Me won her second race from 13 starts this season and her eighth from 109 overall, earning $79,995. She paid $13.40 to win.

Williams’ third victory came in the final race on the card when Outlaw Kismet ($2.80) ripped to a 14-length victory in 1:59.3.
