Seizing command early, Ideal jet strolled to a 1:52.1 win in the $15,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Georgian Downs on Sunday (Aug. 23).

YS Lotus tipped first over from fourth moving to the final turn but gave chase as Ideal Jet opened his lead. Carsons Shadow scored a narrow win in the race before, taking the $9,500 Preferred 3 Pace in 1:52.3.

Race-favourite Outlawgrabbingears circled to the lead past a :27.3 opening quarter and before a :57 half. Mach Code tipped first over moving to the second turn tracked by Carsons Shadow and advanced to race near the leader’s wheel by three-quarters in 1:25.2. Outlawgrabbingears continued to lead as Mach Code faltered into the turn, prompting Carsons Shadow to move three wide. The four-year-old Shadow Play gelding gathered momentum into the stretch to draw alongside Outlawgrabbingears and eventually downing the pacesetter by a nose with Jay Eye Em rallying from third over for show.

Owned and bred by David Carson, Carsons Shadow won his first race from six starts this season and his eighth from 30 overall, earning $104,398. Vicki Gregg trains the $6.90 winner while Jason Ryan sat in the bike.
