Anyone that figured driver Chris Lems into their handicapping equation for Vernon Downs’ Sunday, August 23 program of live racing was probably pleasantly surprised – over, and over, and over again.
Lems made trips to the winner’s circle after seven of Vernon’s Sunday races.
Lems’ wins came aboard Day to Ponder (who returned $5.90 to win and stopped the clock in 1:53.1), Princess Elsa ($3.00, 2:00.1), Ardie B Speed ($3.80, 1:53), RG Riptide ($7.10, 1:54), Yankee Manny ($13.60, 1:55.3), Ashton Seelster ($5.80, 1:52.1), and Leahs Ex ($11.40, 1:56.3).
Lems, a native of South Dakota, has driven his mounts to more than 900 wins and over $5.6 million in purse earnings in his career.
Live racing will return to Vernon on Friday evening (August 28). First-race post time for the card is 6:45 p.m. (ET).
