Jackson Storm Wins Prospect Prelim

Jackson Storm and catch-driver Chris Johnston took the $7,100 fourth leg of the Prospect Series for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Sunday (Aug. 22) at Leamington Raceway.

Jackson Storm ($15.60) took the lead in the stretch on the way to a 2:02.2 divisional track record victory by 2-1/2 lengths. The homebred Kadabra-Sheguindah gelding, who was just a neck short in the previous Clinton leg on August 8, notched his second win from 16 career starts for trainer Alan Fair and owner Elizabeth Fair of Ancaster, Ont. Petro Dealin was second and Top Hall finished back in third.

The fifth round of the Prospect Series for the division is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Flamboro Downs.

There was no surprise as the favourite prevailed in Sunday’s race at Leamington Raceway to celebrate the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society’s 25th Anniversary.

Tyler Borth sent West River Cindy to the top early and never relinquished that position as she crossed the wire with two lengths to spare in 2:00.2. Magics Lucky Charm was second followed by Fortune Tellers K.

It was the fourth win of 2021 for West River Cindy, and first at Leamington this year. Gordon McDonnell trains and co-owns with Desmond Robinet and Michael Cecile.

Bred by noted Maritime trainer/driver Clare MacDonald, West River Cindy is a six-year-old daughter of Armbro Barrister who has earned over $135,000 from more than 100 starts in her career.

Making the winners’ circle presentation to West River Cindy’s connections was Pat Taylor, a long time supporter of OSAS.

The next OSAS Anniversary celebration will take place at Georgian Downs on Tuesday, August 31, that track’s final race date for the 2021 season.
