Hammered down to 1-5, Always Gonna B You looked every bit the heavy favourite, brooking no challenges once on top and winning her second straight in the Wednesday, Aug. 21 co-feature, a $15,753 conditioned pace for fillies and mares, at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Always Gonna B You had to work a bit to wrest the early lead from Infinite Symbol, but the five-year-old daughter of Always A Virgin-Passing Fancy held Infinite Symbol at bay in the lane, defeating her by two lengths for Aaron Merriman in 1:51.1. Yippie Hanover was a ground-saving third.
Bill Bercury trains Always Gonna B You, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $516,562, for Renee Bercury.
In Wednesday’s companion feature, a $15,753 conditioned trot, Troycen reasserted in the lane and triumphed in 1:55.3 for Hunter Myers, trainer Brandon Presto and owner Larry Parlin. The five-year-old Cantab Hall-Love My Muscles gelding lifted his career earnings to $178,064.
Jack Killeen and trainer Brian Rodriguez teamed for a pair of wins, as did Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and trainer Ron Burke, while Jeremy Indof, Merriman, Mike Wilder and trainer Dirk Simpson also joined the double parade.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday, Aug. 22, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
