With speed laid in front of her, Cousin Mary capitalized from a stalking trip and stormed to the finish to win the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 on Saturday (Aug. 21) at Georgian Downs.
Manhattan Night made the lead with I Wish You Well settling into second moving to a :27.1 first quarter. Parisian Blue Chip raced third, but soon angled off the pegs to attack the pacesetter moving to a :55.1 half. I Wish You Well finished third.
Owned and trained by Jeffrey Williamson, Cousin Mary won her second race from eight starts this season and her 36th from 154 overall, earning $518,968. She paid $13.50 to win.
