SB Madam Secretary put in a track record performance and Amasa Arion won the $15,000 Mares Open Pace on Tuesday night (Aug. 20) at Running Aces.

SB Madam Secretary, a two-year-old trotting filly by Tom Ridge, closed from off the speed to record a neck victory in 1:59.4 in the $8,625 Minnesota-sired ‘A’ juvenile filly pace. She raced at odds of 14-1 for trainer Ulf Holmjohansen and driver Darrell Wright and paid $30.80 to win. She is owned by Susan Holmjohansen (of Bloomington, MN) and Deborah Hofsaess (Decorah, IA).

Four-year-old Western Thorn bay Amasa Arion scored an impressive victory in the $15,000 Mares Open Pace, as she also closed from off the speed to record a neck victory in 1:53.4 for her trainer/driver Rick Magee. The clocking was just one fifth of a second off of her life’s mark. Amasa Arion has now won five races in a row and seven of nine season’s starts for owner Kristy Casagranda.

Live racing will return to Running Aces on Saturday (Aug. 24) and will offer a trio of carryover pools ($1,666.54 for the 50-cent early Pick-4, $1,260.64 for the 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot, and $1,199.42 for the 50-cent Hi-5).

Post time on Saturday is at 6 p.m. (CDT).
