Drumheller Pockets Another Open

Drumheller converted from the pocket to capture his second consecutive win in Open company on Sunday

afternoon at Holland Fair.

Black Mac landed the lead ahead of the inside starter in the $2,900 seventh race feature and posted opening fractions of :29.1 and :59.3 before coming under attack. Trainer-driver Greg Manning pulled the pocket during the third panel and Drumheller gained the upper hand as they moved past three-quarters in 1:28.3. Black Mac put up a fight down the stretch, but Drumheller persevered to win by a nose in 1:59.1. Outlaw Spider finished three-quarters of a length behind in third.

Donald Ransom of Boissevain, MB and Keith Earle of Winnipeg, MB share ownership of the gelding, who claimed last weekend's MHHI & MSSBA Four-Year-Old Open Pace at Wawanesa. The son of Badlands Hanover-I Wish I Knew now sports a record reading 4-4-1 in nine outings this year.
