Windsong Leo paced home for his seventh straight win Monday in Northfield Park’s eighth race, the $19,000 Open Pace.
The six year-old gelding is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura. He is trained by Ron Burke. Chris Page was aboard for the winning drive.
Windsong Leo started from post eight. He sat back and let his rivals post sizzling fractions of :26.1, :53.4 and 1:22.3. Page moved Windsong Leo on the backstretch, and prevailing by a nose in a stretch duel, stopping the timer at 1:51.1.
Monday’s triumph increased Windsong Leo’s (Jeremes Jet-Goldie) lifetime earnings to $334,250. He returned $15.00 to win.
The impressive seven consecutive victories started in New York at Yonkers Raceway, posting wins on June 9, June 17 and June 30. Windsong Leo then scored on July 14 and July 23 at The Meadows before his August 6 and August 20 triumphs at Northfield Park.
