After a disappointing seventh-place finish in the Gold Series Final at Kawartha Downs on August 9, Mindsweeper got back in the good books by capturing the lone $40,000 OSS Gold Series elimination for three-year-old pacing fillies at Mohawk Racetrack on Monday.
Jody Jamieson managed to tuck the daughter of Mach Three-Catch A Wish into the five-hole in the early going while Mia Seelster (Mario Baillargeon) motored to the lead and laid down wild fractions of :26.2 and :54.3. Katys Jet (Scott Zeron) came first over after Mia Seelster around the final turn, but Mia Seelster was still in command at the three-quarter pole in 1:22.2.
Race favourite Cooking The Books (Jack Moiseyev) was gapping her cover from second over at that point, and that’s when Jamieson swung wide with Mindsweeper. The filly went into sprint mode and used a :27.2 closing panel to prevail by a half-length margin over Make A Wish in a career-best clocking of 1:50.4. Apogee Hanover finished with a late rush to grab the show dough.
Sent off at odds of 5-1, Mindsweeper notched her third win of the season – and her fifth to date – for trainer Eric Adams. The Millar Farms’ homebred now owns a career record of 5-6-4 from 23 starts in addition to a bankroll that now stands at $268,033.
