Marty Party shattered a track record held by the great See You At Peelers during a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes victory on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs
. The race was one of four divisions of Sire Stakes held at Pocono for two-year-old fillies on the pace, with purses ranging from $60,753 to $61,153.
Marty Party, a two-year-old filly fresh off a Sire Stakes win in her last start, took over the lead at the three-eighths-mile marker of the race and rolled from that point on with Dave Palone in the bike for trainer Joe Holloway. She won by two and a half lengths in 1:51.2, beating the Pocono record of 1:51.3 for two-year-old pacing fillies set by See You At Peelers in the Breeders Crown eliminations last October. Sectionline Yankee finished second and Mcsauna was third.
In other Sire Stakes action, Economy Terror, who started her career with a win at Pocono and then followed it up with stakes wins at The Meadowlands and Chester, stayed unbeaten with a hard-fought win. With Palone in the bike for trainer Chris Oakes, Economy Terror dueled with Dragons Jojo for the last three-eighths of the mile before prevailing by one and a quarter lengths in 1:52. So Easy Baby picked up the show.
Palone also won aboard Robin Cruiser earlier in the night for three Sire Stakes wins overall. The filly, trained by Tim Pinske, led from the three-eighths-mile point on for her first Sire Stakes win in three tries. She won by one and three-quarter lengths over Moonlit Dragon with Destinys Chance finishing third. The time of the mile was 1:52.1.
In the night’s other division, Frontierpan won her second straight Sire Stakes win with a furious rally, getting up in a four-way photo at the line in 1:54.1. Matt Kakaley did the driving for trainer Ron Burke. Cruzin To The Dance just missed a nose back in second while Real Touch was right there third.
