The Loop, at the Red River Exhibition, in Winnipeg, Man., opened its 2025 summer harness racing stand with a nine-race card on Saturday, Aug. 2, led by 2:03.1 wins by Dragons Attitude and Pipers Luna in their respective divisions of Lady Crocus Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies.

In the $12,570 first division, Dragons Attitude and driver Marc Fillion sat fourth off splits of :29.1 and 1:00.1 set by Miss Baby (Paula Mason) before angling off the pegs early on the second circuit. The daughter of Custard The Dragon-Red Star Brooklyn flushed cover from Acquired Taste (Darryl Mason) on the lower turn to get around a stopping Miss Baby before continuing uncovered to engage Acquired Taste in a late showdown after that rival hit three-quarters in 1:31.4. Dragons Attitude wore down her inside foe in the final yards of a thrilling stretch drive, urged to prevail by a scant neck. Miss Baby finished a distant third, beaten 13-1/2 lengths.

Trainer Trevor Williams is also the lessee of Dragons Attitude, who is now a three-time winner in 15 seasonal starts after a winless rookie campaign. She paid $3.60 to win as the 4-5 favourite.

In the $12,370 second split, Pipers Luna and Dean Rey, who led all drivers with three wins on the card, stalked from third as Pictureperfecttime (Cory Manning) rolled through early fractions of :30.1 and 1:01.2. As Smoknintheboysroom (Marc Fillion) vacated the pocket with a lap to go, Pipers Luna found herself behind a brewing third-quarter duel, and Rey angled her off the pegs to overtake a fading Pictureperfecttime for second nearing three-quarters in 1:32.2. The daughter of Im The Pied Piper-Hammers Rainbow took aim at Smoknintheboysroom off the turn for home and drew off to win by 1-1/2 lengths. Girl On The Go (Darryl Mason) finished third, another 14 lengths in arrears.

Pipers Luna (pictured above) is a two-time winner from as many starts in her career for owner/trainer/breeder Lorraine Rey. She paid $3.70 to win as the 4-5 favourite.

Odds-on favourites swept the pair of $6,000 sub-featured events. Ginger Tree Finny ($2.20), driven by Michel Rey for trainer Melanie Rey Clark and owner Laverne Turnbull, improved to three-for-three in Manitoba by way of a 1:59.2 clocking — the fastest on the program — in the $6,000 Open for male pacers while Hurry Home ($3.30), campaigned by trainer Sherri Mason and driver/owner Darryl Mason, rolled to a 2:01.4 win in a similar event for distaffers.

Racing at The Loop will take place every Saturday through Oct. 4, with post time at 1 p.m. (CDT).
