After falling 2-3/4 lengths short of Many Moons in the first round of the Dream Maker Series, a thrice-challenged True Blue Lindy ($2.80) gunned home in :27 to preserve his lead to the line in the lone $20,000 second-round Dream Maker event on Monday (Aug. 2) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Jody Jamieson and True Blue Lindy initially opted for a pocket ride behind Atlas Hanover, following a :28 first quarter before moving to the fore with five-eighths to go. Once in control, the two-year-old Always B Miki gelding slowed the pace considerably, rating middle fractions of :57.3 and 1:27 before facing a parade of stern challengers — and dismissing them all.
Just beyond the midway point of the far turn, Rockaway Bay broke stride amid a first-over push from third, enabling Atlas Hanover to pull the pocket turning for home. True Blue Lindy accelerated away from his pocket rival off the corner, but one last foe remained for him to defeat. Nautical Hanover, who stalked comfortably in midfield throughout, uncorked a three-wide rally in mid-stretch, but his :26.3 closing sectional was only enough to bring him to within a half length of True Blue Lindy's 1:54 mile. Atlas Hanover finished third, another four lengths behind.
Trainer Carl Jamieson co-owns two-time winner True Blue Lindy with William Loyens and Trevor Edwards.
The $86,500 final of the Dream Maker Series, for two-year-old pacers, is slated for next Monday (Aug. 9).
