Back at her home track after a pair of stakes engagements at The Meadowlands, Solar Sister delivered as the 1-5 favourite in Friday night's featured $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack.
The Golden Girls and Lady Liberty runner-up swept from third to first after a 26-second opening quarter and carved out middle splits of :55.2 and 1:23.4 en route to a two-length victory in 1:50.2. Early leader Ms Mac N Cheese followed in second-place while Delightful Hill out-kicked Witch Dali for third in a photo finish.
Solar Sister paid $2.60 to win. Doug McNair drove the four-year-old millionaire daughter of Mach Three and Cabrini Hanover for his father Gregg's stable and owners David Willmot of King City, Ont. and Clay Harland Horner of Toronto. The homebred mare now has top-three finishes in nine of her 10 starts this year, including three wins, for seasonal earnings over $250,000.
Solar Sister is eligible to the Artiscape Pace, which will be held on August 28 at Tioga Downs, as well as next month's Milton Stakes at Mohawk.
