Four-year-old Sharky Spur mare Idol stepped out onto the Meadows' five-eighths mile oval last night and proceeded to etch her name onto the Pennsylvania track's record books.
With Brett Miller in the bike, the Jim Pollock, Jr.-trained Idol made the front after having rocketed out from Post 9. She went on to cut the fractions in :26.3, :54.2 and 1:21.2. The mare came home in :28.3 for a 1:50 clocking. The time equalled the fastest mile ever by a filly or mare at the Meadows.
The win was the 10th in Idol's 30-race career.
