Gold Cup and Saucer week 2020 will come to an end on midnight Saturday evening (Aug. 22) with the 61st edition of The Guardian Gold Cup and Saucer at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The official post-position draw took place with the Gold Cup and Saucer ambassadors during the Tuesday (Aug. 18) card at the capital oval. Lisburn has drawn the coveted pylon position in the $60,000 event for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault and Nova Scotia owners Kevin Harvey of Hammonds Plains and Rudge Racing of Dartmouth.

Time To Dance delivered in the $12,500 first trial for the Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer on Saturday (Aug. 15) at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Time To Dance won his sixth race from 18 starts this season and his 13th from 47 overall, earning $82,863. Brent Campbell and Matthew McDonald own the four-year-old gelding by A Rocknroll Dance.

Dale Spence put the pedal to the metal early with Casimir Richie P in Trial 2 for this year’s Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the Dr. Ian Moore trainee kept on rolling en route to posting a dazzling victory in 1:51.2.

Moore shares ownership on the five-year-old son of Astronomical-Casimir Hugs with Michael Goldberg of Toronto, Ont. The win improved the pacer’s 2020 record to 2-3-3 from nine starts. The 18-time winner has banked over $320,000 in his career.
