The draw for the 2015 edition of the Sobeys Gold Cup & Saucer took place during the Tuesday night card of harness racing at Red Shores Charlottetown.
Both of the elimination winners made massive splashes, with Trial #1 winner Crombie A setting a new CDP track record with a 1:50.3 score on Saturday night.
Crombie A is owned by Allard Racing Inc., Kapildeo Singh, Albert P. Abdala III. The nine-year-old son of Life Sign is a 24-time career winner with purse earnings totalling $638,722. He was purchased in May and has been racing in Pennsylvania and New York -- where he set a 1:50.1 all-age track record at Yonkers Raceway in his last race on July 25 -- prior to his Canadian debut on Saturday.
Take It Back Terry was one-fifth of a second slower on Monday night, winning Trial #2 in 1:50.4.
The son of Western Terror - Second Symphony notched his 30th lifetime win for trainer Ron Burke and co-owners Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Larry Karr of Randolph, N.J. and Phil Collura of Mountain Top, Penn.
Ron Burke told Trot Insider on Tuesday night that Atta Boy Dan would be driven by Anthony MacDonald. Marc Campbell drove both Atta Boy Dan and elim winner Take It Back Terry, and sticks with that one for the final.
