There were no surprises in Wednesday’s Atlantic Sires Stakes action at Charlottetown Driving Park as the popular freshmen pacers D J Supreme, Pictonians Souwest and the undefeated Putnams Power were on their best

behaviour. All three put forth their best efforts yet in winning their respective $10,140 'A' divisions.

In the first division, D J Supreme took the lead after the opening quarter and cruised to a career-best 1:58.3 victory for driver Darren Crowe and trainer-owner David Jackson. Howdidchado (Terry Gallant) closed well to finish second for the third consecutive time while Woodmere Digger (Jody Jamieson) rounded out the top three. The son of Force Of Life-Daveys Lady has won half of his four starts this year and now sports a bankroll totaling $11,778.

Pictonians Souwest charged to the lead from Post 7 in the next split and didn’t look back en route to his third consecutive win in four outings. The Mike Stevenson-trained and driven gelding stopped the clock in a life’s-best 1:58.4 with pocket-sitter Aarons Ambition (Mark Bradley) following two lengths behind. Tiger Williams (Earl Smith) advanced first up to get third. Daniel Ross of Belfast, PE owns the son of Western Paradise-Southview Sasha, a winner of $11,204.

Finally, Putnams Power made his winning move at the half-mile marker as he advanced to the lead from third and opened up three and three-quarter lengths on the field. The Force Of Life-Southview Shania colt, trained and driven by Danny Romo, also took a new mark of 1:57.4 while keeping his record perfect in six outings. Homersboybart (Jason Hughes) and Woodmere Sandman (Stephen Trites) were second and third. Ronald Seymour Jr. and Bruce Donovan of Glace Bay, NS own the winner of $18,432.

Marc Campbell drove two of the three ‘B’ division winners -- Windemere Express in 2:02.1 and Rebelforce in 2:04 – while Jody Jamieson captured the other $2,500 split with Island Commander in 1:58.2.
