The post position draw for Saturday’s $60,000 Gold Cup & Saucer was completed earlier this evening at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the four winners in the Trials drew nothing better than post four for the 50th edition of the Maritime classic
.
The 2007 Gold Cup & Saucer champ, Silent Swing, will have to overcome the outside of the starting gate if he wants to become a two-time winner of the event. The Jean Louis Arsenault trainee, who was a 1:53.3 winner in Trial One last Saturday evening, will start from post eight.
Along Came Polly, who blazed to a career-best clocking of 1:51.3 in Trial Two last Sunday, will leave from post four in the final for trainer Phil Coleman. The next victory for the son of Camluck will be the 20th of his career.
All The Weapons and Secret Weapon, who dead-heated for the win in Trial Three on Monday, will start beside one another in Saturday’s final. All The Weapons has drawn post five, while Secret Weapon has drawn post six. They shared the spotlight in the winner’s circle after touring the oval in 1:53.4.
