Made For More Gets More In Ohio Sires Stakes

Made For More winning at Northfield Park

Made For More and Miz Ella Paige recorded victories in the fourth leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes for freshman filly trotters at Northfield Park on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Made For More scored her second straight Ohio Sires Stakes win of the season, taking the evening's first $104,167 division in 1:56.1. With Chris Lems aboard for this victory, the Long Tom-Obsessed Blue Chip filly led gate to wire, recording fractions of :29, :58.4 and 1:27.4 en route to winning by 2-1/2 lengths over Moni Line (Kurt Sugg). Janets Big Star (Tyler Smith) was third. 

Made For More is trained by Vernon Beachy for owner John Schlabach of Millersburg, Ohio. A winner in The Next Generation in 1:56.4 in her career debut on July 4 and the third leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes in a lifetime-best 1:54.1 last time out on Aug. 6 — both at Eldorado Scioto Downs — she has hit the board in all six seasonal starts with a total of four victories and two seconds while banking $268,029.

After recording two seconds and a third in the first three legs of the Sires Stakes this season, Miz Ella Paige came out on top in the fourth leg, taking the $104,167 second division in a lifetime mark of 1:57.3. Driven by Sam Widger, the Uncle Peter-Amal Hall filly led gate to wire with fractions of :29, :59.3 and 1:28.2, turning back Rose Run Cybill (Kurt Sugg) to win by three lengths with Lady Bountiful (Chris Page) in third. 

Trainer Karen Fread shares ownership of Miz Ella Paige with Randy Toth of Surfside, South Carolina. The filly has hit the board in all five seasonal starts with two wins, two seconds and one third to go with $102,175 in earnings.

Celebrating its 50th season, the Ohio Sires Stakes continues on Monday, Aug. 17 with the fourth leg for freshman colt trotters at Northfield.
