Teelatini continued her winning ways at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino after she captured the featured event of the evening, the $133,000 Indiana Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies, on Thursday (Aug. 17). Stopping the timer in 1:51.1, Teelatini recorded her fourth straight stakes win and established a new lifetime best with driver Peter Wrenn in the bike.
Leaving from post two, Wrenn sent Teelatini away from the gate just enough to grab a pocket seat behind the heavily favoured All Jk and Trace Tetrick. All Jk, who was undefeated in three starts, dictated fractions of :26.2 and :54.2 while the rest of the field sorted out early positions. McKira and Joey Putnam were unable to find a spot along the rail and were applying pressure from first over as the field headed toward three-quarters. As the field reached the three-quarters in 1:23.1, Teelatini tipped from the pocket and employed an impressive late closing kick to surge past All Jk. Lets Go Endofanera utilized a ground saving trip and a late closing kick of her own to get up for second while All Jk held on for third.
Sent off at odds of 5-2, Teelatini paid $7.20 to her backers at the betting windows.
Trained by Roger Welch, Teelatini has now won four of five lifetime starts. The homebred daughter of Rockin Image-Nightcap is owned by William C. DeLong and William P. DeLong and sports a lifetime bankroll of $150,348.
The victory was also one of three winners on the evening’s 14-race card for driver Peter Wrenn.
Live racing will continue at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Friday, Aug. 18 with a 14-race card featuring Indiana Sires Stakes action for the three-year-old pacing colts and two-year-old pacing colts.
