Mohawk Racetrack put forth a nine-race slate of qualifiers this morning over the seven-eighths mile Campbellville
, Ont. course.
The first race of the qualifying card saw trainer Travis Alexander steer his juvenile Western Terror filly Striking Terror to a three and three-quarter-length victory in 1:56.1.
After taking a pocket ride in the second race, conditioner Larry Walker pilot his freshman Duke Of York colt Leslie Road to a two and a quarter-length victory in 2:02.
The familiar tandem of trainer Bob McIntosh and driver Steve Condren clicked in Race 3 with two-year-old No Pan Intended colt Fantasypan. The bay went to the front from Post 8 and recorded a three-length, gate-to-wire win in 1:56.
Hard Cider made its lifetime charted debut a winning one in Race 4, as the Trevor Ritchie-driven and Harald Lunde-trained colt stopped the clock in 2:00.2. The brown son of Yankee Glide was victorious by two lengths.
After being scratched 'sick' out of an August 7 assignment at Mohawk, eight-year-old Cambest mare Four Starzz Meliss converted a pocket trip and recorded a sharp, one-length victory in 1:53.4 for driver Jason Brewer and trainer Glenn Lalonde.
Three-year-old Angus Hall filly Maisie trotted to victory in Race 6, as the Claude Cadieux-trained and driven bay hit the wire in 2:01.1 and posted a one and a quarter-length margin of victory.
The team of driver Mario Baillargeon and trainer Ben Baillargeon clicked in Race 7, as four-year-old Andover Hall horse Ziegler Hanover recorded a one-length victory in 1:58.2.
Race 8 saw Luxury Club record a three-quarters of one length victory in 1:58. The Mark Horner-trained five-year-old was driven by Ken Hardy.
First Notable Chip recorded a three-quarters of one length victory in Race 9, the last race of the morning. With Jack Moiseyev calling the shots, the four-year-old student of conditioner Bill Cass stopped the clock in 1:58.1 after working out a ride.
