A set of Couple De L’Avenir eliminations – each worth $7,500 – were contested Tuesday evening at Hippodrome 3R, with Real Lucky Day and Joyce Lavec winning as they pleased in their respective assignments.

Sent off at odds of 1-5, Real Lucky Day powered to the lead and didn’t look back en route to a 2:03 triumph in his elimination. Stephane Brosseau was second and parked at the quarter pole with the Yves Filion pupil, but they eventually worked their way to the top and proceeded to chop out middle splits of 1:02.1 and 1:33. The two-year-old colt then used a :30-second kicker to win by a pair of lengths over Kinnder Dangerous. Yoan Bayama rounded out the top three finishers.

Trained by one of the newest members of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Yves Filion, the rookie won at first asking for owner/breeder Ecuries R L Belanger of Laval, QC.

In the filly division, Joyce Lavec won for the second time in three tries thanks to her 2:06.3 decision.

Pascal Berube took over the lead at the quarter pole in :31.1, and the filly proceeded to knife out fractions of 1:03.3 and 1:35.4. A :30.4 closing quarter propelled her to the win by 6-1/4 lengths over Muscle Do. Taurus P V rounded out the Triactor ticket.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice, the Dany Fontaine pupil has banked just shy of $9,000 for owner/breeder Jean Berthiaume and partner Investissement K F B of Sorel Tracy, QC.
