Starting the year winless in six tries, veteran pacer Adore Him might have found the cure for what ailed him on Saturday (August 15) at Sarnia's Hiawatha Horse Park.
Making the 113th start of his career but the first at Hiawatha, eight-year-old Adore Him definitely found the five-eighths mile confines of Hiawatha to his liking en route to his first win of the year in Saturday's top class $6,000 Preferred 3 Pace.
With driver Garrett Rooney at the controls, public choice Adore Him used his rail position to obtain early control and carve out fractions of :26.4, :55.4 and 1:25. A five-length advantage narrowed to less than three approaching the wire but Adore Him was still much the best, tripping the timer in 1:54.4. Cool Rock (Tyler Borth) closed well for second with Casino Classic completing the triactor.
Adore Him (Shadow Play - Respectednbeloved) is trained by Curt Blake for owner Robert Blake of Clinton, Ont. The first win of 2020 is the 33rd lifetime tally for Adore Him, whose earnings approach $195,000 lifetime.
