Per Henriksen doesn't drive as much as he used to but the O'Brien Award winner can still can the job done, even when catch-driving against a group of top international drivers.
One of two Canadian-based reinsmen invited to compete in the 2016 Ahlsells Invitational, Henriksen and Hall of Famer Bill O'Donnell faced off against some of the best drivers in European harness racing -- Erik Adielsson, Olle Goop, Pierre Levesque, Anders Lindquist, Axel Jacobsen, Jörn Morten Kvikstad, Giampaolo Minnucci and Hugo Langeweg Sr. -- on Saturday at Åby Racetrack in Sweden.
Henriksen pointed five-year-old Eder Bob (Crazed - Keystone Blaze) to the position of command and made every call a winning one in the 2,140 metre (roughly 1-5/16 miles) race. The duo held off the late charge of Le Miracle (Erik Adielsson) for the victory, the trotter's first in more than a year.
On Wednesday, a number of legends will also line up for an invitational race at Solvalla.
