Alritealritealrite showed last week’s sixth-place finish was nothing more than a stutter as the stallion wired the field in the $1,600 Winners Over Pace for his fourth victory in his last five starts at Northside Downs on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Back on the inside after being handicapped with the six-hole last time, Alritealritealrite was in front the moment the wings folded and never relinquished control. The 3-5 favourite reeled off :29.1 and :58.3 early fractions for Kevin Bailey, then was joined by perennial Northside top-class contender Hugh Heff (Randy Getto) down the backside. Alritealritealrite rebuffed the pursuer past three-quarters in 1:28 and created daylight to his rivals on the final turn, and the Heather Hawkins trainee dug in down the lane to resist late pushes by Hugh Heff and Revenant (Shawn Lynk) for the 1:56.1 victory. Hugh Heff finished second, a length behind the winner, with Revenant third.

Alritealritealrite has proven a strong acquisition by owners Terri Morrison of Marion Bridge, N.S., Irwin Claener of New Waterford, N.S., Kirk MacRae of Ben Eoin, N.S. and Angus MacEachern of Howie Center, N.S. The five-year-old intact son of Lazarus N-Hot Spot Hanover has eight wins in 11 starts since moving to Nova Scotia for those connections, bringing his seasonal record to eight-for-18. He had won three Winners Overs in a row prior to a sixth-place finish on Aug. 8. Thursday’s win was his 11th lifetime from 65 career starts, bringing his bankroll to $196,578. He paid $3.40 to win.
