Eastcoast Invader got away fourth in the field of five top pacers in the Inverness Raceway Winners Over Pace on Sunday (Aug. 13) before cutting away at the distance between him and the lead to win by two lengths.
From post five, Eastcoast Invader and Monica Sutherland landed in fourth as Windmeredontmatter (Redmond Doucet) took the field to the quarter in :29.4 and half in :59.4. Rockemsockem Scott (Donald Kennedy) moved first over and Eastwardho Fun (Alexander MacDonald) tipped out one more to move three-wide around the field as they passed the three-quarters in 1:30.2. Eastcoast Invader made his move at in the final panel and within the :28.2 split, he slashed away at his trailing distance and move into position to score. At the wire, Eastcoast Invader had earned his victory by two lengths in 1:59.1. Eastwardho Fun finished second and Rockemsockem Scott rounded out the top three.
Monica Sutherland trains Eastcoast Invader, a six-year-old gelding and winner of 17 career races, who she co-owns with Todd Sutherland.
