Lets Wait And See and P C Dream Ticket captured their respective Preferred 3 assignments Monday evening at Grand River Raceway, and each of them had a little help from driver Colin Kelly.
It was Kelly who mapped out the winning trip with Lets Wait And See in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers.
He pressed to the lead with the Scott Friend trainee, who led through panels of :27.2, :56 and 1:25.3 before using a :28.3 kicker to win by a half-length margin over race favourite This Is My Song in 1:54.1. Brocks Fortune was third.
Sent off at odds of 2-1, the seven-year-old son of Shadow Play-Remember The Magic won for the sixth time this season and for the 25th time in his career for owner Tyler Friend of Rockwood, Ont.
Kelly later clicked in the Preferred 3 for trotters with P C Dream Ticket, who survived a first-over journey en route to capturing the $8,500 assignment.
The Jared Bako trainee got away fourth before making a first-over move on tempo-setting Fluff Me Up on the way to the half. P C Dream Ticket made steady gains on the rim, and he eventually worked his way to the top at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.4. He then used a :29.3 closing quarter to prevail by a neck over race favourite Vesuvio Bi in 1:57.2. Warrawee Shipshape was third.
Bako owns the eight-year-old son of Cornaro Dasolo-P C Dreams with Taylor Fritz, Christopher Jewitt and John Gray. The partners watched the gelding improve this year’s record to 4-1-3 from 12 starts while boosting his overall cash stash to $124,926.
