Rock N Roll Legacy earned his third straight victory and a new lifetime mark with a late charge in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace featured on Sunday's (August 13) harness racing card at Georgian Downs.
Race favourite Company Man (Travis Cullen) led the field through solid opening fractions of :26, :54.4 and 1:23.3 before throwing in the towel when Sabine Pass (Paul Davies) confronted him. But Sabine Pass also faded as No Bu (Scott Young) charged three-wide to take over at the top of the stretch. After following in fifth for most of the mile, Rock N Roll Legacy kicked into action and sprinted home in :27.3 to go by with Colin Kelly catch-driving. The Rocknroll Hanover-Shanias Legacy gelding won by three lengths in 1:51.4. No Bu stayed for second and Rise Up Now (Alfie Carroll) came on for third.
Rock N Roll Legacy paid $10.50 to win as the 4-1 third choice on the toteboard. Owned by Michael Beaver of Waterloo, Ont., he has won four of his last six starts since joining the Duane Marfisi stable in June.
Lifetime, the six-year-old pacer has won 16 races and $121,201 in purses.
A trio of $7,500 Preferred 3s were won by Hutt Racing Stable's pacing mare Amazing Control in 1:54.3 for driver Anthony Haughan and trainer Meg Crone, Anatolia Farm's pacing gelding Mr Censi in 1:52.1 over stablemate Bugatti for trainer Richard Moreau with Phil Hudon in the sulky; and the Victor Puddy-trained trotter Star Photo in 1:56 in rein to Alfie Carroll for owners Keith Cassell and Limco Inc.
