Victor Invictus Victorious In Mohawk Pop-Up Series

Victor Invictus topped the Pop-Up Trotting Series on Monday, Aug. 12, winning one of three $12,000 divisions as the swiftest victor of the series action at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Victor Invictus and Sylvain Filion set out from post six, accepting the pocket trip behind Cool Clifford (Tyler Jones), who handled the timer with splits in :27.3, :56.3, and 1:26. The Jerry Duford student popped from his pocket comfort before the top of the stretch and sprinted home to win by two lengths in 1:55. Cool Clifford had to settle for second and Villefranche As (Louis-Philippe Roy) took show in a photo finish.

Home Stretch Holdings Inc. co-owns the Kadabra - Whitesand Electra gelding with Lloyd and Barbara Tylee. Victor Invictus won his second race of the year and 12th career victory. In 147 starts, the eight-year-old has produced earnings of $230,600. He paid $3.10 to win.

In the first division of the evening, Lindys Irishcream (Father Patrick - Gin And Lindy) was a 1:55.3 winner by 1-3/4 lengths with Chris Christoforou holding the lines for Blake Macintosh, who co-owns the mare with Tim Klemencic. 

She returned $3.20 to win.

Macallan (Credit Winner - Margarita Hall) grabbed the third Pop Up Series split with Scott Young in the bike for Timothy Cherwaiko. The pair set out from post five, claimed the early lead and then had to reclaim that lead through the three-quarters before pulling away to a five-length triumph in 1:55.2. 

Cherwaiko co-owns the winner with Gary Green. He paid $2.40 to win.
