Joxter toughed out a first-over victory in the Friday (Aug. 11) evening Open Trot at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
Dan Daley trains and drives the five-year-old Chapter Seven son, who is no stranger to the feature division and after finishing second in the local trotting feature a few weeks back, got the job done on Friday.
Joxter was co-favoured along with Special Prosecutor (Jimmy Devaux) as those two 2-1 shots slugged it out for a half mile before the former got the better of his rival in the stretch. Joxter stopped the timer in 1:56.2. Special Prosecutor wound up as the runner-up for the second straight week in the feature while Malibu Kid (Matt Athearn) earned the show spot.
Joxter paid $6.20 to win and led an exacta and triple that returned $19.20 and $88.50, respectively.
Owned by Ann-Mari Daley of Lakeworth, Florida, Joxter earned his third win of the season, but just the first in a handful of starts in the local Open.
