Trainer-driver Åke Svanstedt swept the New York Sire Stakes events for two-year-old trotting fillies on Monday (Aug. 12) at Monticello Raceway, with Seventimesalady and Miss Jubilation proving tops in their respective $51,000 divisions.
In the first Sire Stakes division, 1-5 betting favourite Seventimesalady started from the outside from post five, and made the front after two of her rivals made miscues on the first turn. The daughter of Chapter Seven and Ava Mario was uncontested through the mile, cutting fractions of 29.3, 59.2 and 1:29.2 before uncorking a :28.4 last quarter to score an easy five-length victory in 1:58.1. The pocket-sitting Flotus finished second, followed by Illdoitmyself.
Svanstedt co-owns Seventimesalady, a three-time New York Sire Stakes winner, with Little E, Knutsson Trotting Inc., and L Berg Inc.
The second Sire Stakes heat saw Miss Jubilation score a wire-to-wire win in 1:58.4 over Sorprese (Dan Daley) and Destiny Blue Chip (Charlie Norris). The daughter of Chapter Seven and Seven Blue Muscles earned her second Sire Stakes victory of the year for for Svanstedt, Little E, Triple Play Trotters LLC, and Stolz Geiger.
