Aaron Byron brought five horses to the winner's circle at Tioga Downs on Saturday, Aug. 11.
Byron led Barrys Gift to his sixth consecutive win. Owned by Exceed Stables and trained by Tony Dinges. The five-year-old mare went gate-to-wire in 1:56.1 paying $5.70 for the win.
Byron also had wins with Bashful Strike ($4.60), Pink Lady ($4.50), Chapter Too ($2.40), and Angel Cindy ($61.00).
Prairie Diamond charged late to win the $9,000 featured trot.
Rose Run Rudy controlled all the early fractions, going in :27.4, :57.1 and 1:25.4. Prairie Diamonds was sixth after three-quarters. Owned by Laurie Poulin, F. Morosini, Fritz Racing and trainer Mike Deters, she flew in the stretch beating all the boys in 1:55.1. Freddie Mac was second with Rose Run Rudi settling for third.
Prairie Diamonds is a four-year-old mare by Diamond Goal. It was win her fourth win in 2018 and her 13th victory career. Jim Meittinis drove the $10.00 winner.
Tioga Downs returns to live action on Sunday, Aug. 12 with their biggest races of the season so far. On the card are the Empire Breeders Classic elimination for 3-year-old pacers, Joie De Vie Open Mare Trot and The Crawford Farms Open Trot. There will also be a long sleeve t-shirt giveaway while supply lasts. The 13-race card starts at 1:00 p.m.
