Newfoundland's 2011 Mare of the Year Our Ryall Flush earned her first win of the season as she held off the late rush from early trailer Dontbenervous in the Preferred Handicap Pace at St. John's Racing & Entertainment Centre on Sunday afternoon.
With Paul McDonald taking the reins, the five-year-old Toofunnyforwords mare established the lead from post two and carved out fractions of :29.4, 1:00.1 and 1:31.2 en route to the 2:03.3 score. Dontbenervous (Terence Williams) finished a quarter length behind in second and Dropdead Beautiful (Frankie Joyce) inherited third after a judges' placing.
Our Ryall Flush paid $7.70 to win for the 14th time in her career. She is owned and trained by Carl Ryall of St. John's, Nfld.
