Low-priced winners got the job done in Thursday’s second leg of the Bridger Trotting Series for two-year-olds, with the Master Builder and Max Money delivering on their pari-mutuel promises

to the Mohawk Racetrack faithful.

Master Builder, a colt from the first crop of Trotting Triple Crown winner Glidemaster, eked out a head decision in 1:59 for the team of driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Jeff Gillis. Out of the S Js Photo mare On A Rail, the colt worked his way to the short lead by the time the field reached the three-quarter pole, and he used a :27.2 final quarter to seal the deal over week-one winner Gotabgoodtoblucky. Slip Into Glide used a :27-second final quarter of his own to finish third.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Master Builder improved on the fifth-place finish he put together in his pari-mutuel debut during last week’s opening leg of the Bridger Trotting Series. Gillis and Jamieson’s 1140545 Ontario Ltd share ownership on the youngster with the Burgess Stable.

Max Money finally got his act together for trainer Blair Burgess, who added hopples to the youngster after he made breaks in his first two assignments. Trevor Ritchie mapped out the winning trip for the rookie, who parked past the quarter pole in :29 seconds before laying down middle splits of :59.3 and 1:30. He sprinted home in :28.2 for the half-length decision over Unabating in 1:58.3. Just In took home the show dough.

Robert Burgess of Campbellville and Karin Olsson Burgess of Milton, ON bred and own the son of Amigo Hall-Cost Certainty.

The $50,000 final of the Bridger Trotting Series will be contested next Thursday evening at Mohawk Racetrack.
