Two-year-old pacing fillies rolled back into Hanover Raceway on Wednesday afternoon in a rescheduled OSS Grassroots event after getting rained out this past Saturday
evening.
The make-up date didn’t bother Lyons Anitacol one bit, in fact she loved it. With Brad Forward at the controls, the Bill Robinson-trained daughter of E Dees Cam-The Real Ideal dropped jaws when she blazed over the half-mile oval in a track record clocking of 1:54.2.
The performance knocked three seconds off the former track standard for freshman pacing fillies – a record set in 2005 by Teacher Supreme. More noteworthy is the fact that the clocking was just a tick away from equaling the all-age track record of 1:54.1 set by the older pacing horse Magical GG in 2007.
Forward hustled the filly through panels of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:25.1 before scooting home in :29.1 to seal the deal. It was ten lengths back to runner-up Jodies Romance. Rossridge Fastreos was a distant third.
Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, Lyons Anitacol now owns a 2-2-0 record in her first five starts for owner Geoffrey Lyons Mound of Burford, ON. The $20,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase has banked $38,500 to date.
Seven other divisions went postward on the first half of a Wednesday double-header at Hanover Raceway, and here are the other divisional winners:
Windsong Gentille (1:57.2)
Mc Taylor (1:58)
Hanna Montana (1:58.2)
Misty Moonstone (1:58.3)
Storms Never Last (1:58.3)
Gotta Bounce (2:00.1)
Wisconsin Made (2:00.1)
Next stop for the two-year-old pacing fillies on the OSS Grassroots trail is Woodstock Raceway on August 22.
