Leamington Raceway kicked off its 2024 season on Sunday, Aug. 11 as the half-mile oval showcased 10 races on a sunny afternoon.

The 11th season of racing at the Leamington oval was headlined by 2023's leading driver Garrett Rooney opening with four wins, including the featured $4,500 conditioned claiming pace.

Lets Get Rocked (Downbytheseaside - Dreaming Alina) won the top class of the card with Rooney piloting him to a 4-1/2 length romp in 1:56.3 for trainer Cameron McQueen. Lime In Da Coconut (Nicholas Steward) finished second with Kenny Joe (Robert Doyle) third.

Leamington Raceway is proud to host several feature events this year:

  • Kids Day (Sept. 1) – A fun-filled day with activities, bike giveaway and excitement for Leamington Raceway's younger fans.
  • National Caretaker Appreciation Day (Sept. 8) – A day to recognize the hard-working unsung heroes behind the scenes. The track will also welcome Leamington native Frank Salive for a special appearance.
