Toes In The Water Perfect In 'Buckeye'

The Buckeye Stallion Series took center stage at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana, Ohio on Tuesday, Aug. 10 with 14 races on the card.

Two-year-old filly trotter Toes In The Water made it three-for-three in the series as Ryan Stahl rallied the daughter of Long Tom down the stretch to win by a head in 2:03.4 for trainer Tye Loy. Toes In The Water is perfect in her four lifetime starts

Moved Bythe Spirit also remained perfect in the Buckeye Stallion Series. The Timothy Lane trainee was parked two-wide, five lengths back at the three-quarter pole, when Jeremey Smith hustled the son of Western Vintage to the lead at the top of the stretch and won by a length in 1:58. Moved Bythe Spirit has three wins and a pair of seconds in five starts this year.

The other 12 Buckeye Stallion Series races all had first time winners in the series.

Oftom (sired by Long Tom), Purple Aura (Creatine), and Miss Cowboy Star (Long Tom) were winners in the filly trot.

The two-year-old colt trot saw Stay Tuned (What The Hill), Wishing Max (Wishing Stone), Rose Run Xalted (Triumphant Caviar), and A Handsome Face (Dejarmbro) score wins for the first time in the Buckeye Stallion Series.

The Mad King (Fear The Dragon), Western Depth (Western Vintage), Gratified (Domethatagain), Xenia (Racing Hill), and Self Made (Fear The Dragon) collected their first wins in the two-year-old colt pace.

Buckeye Stallion Series action continues Wednesday night, August 11, at Eldorado Scioto Downs for the third leg of the two-year-old filly pace. First race post time is 6:15 p.m.

Three two-year-old filly pacers will try to make it three-for-three in the series. Five divisions will be contested, each with purse of $17,500.

In the first division, Cruzinbytheseaside will look for her third win in five starts for Brett Miller and trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. Cruizinbytheseaside will square off against second leg winner Prancing Queen with Ronnie Wrenn Jr. driving for trainer Scott Cox. Both fillies were sired by Downbytheseaside.

In the third division, the other two-time winners will square off. Future Ex Wife (Fear The Dragon) will look for her third win in as many starts for Aaron Merriman and Bill Rhoades, while McAngel (McArdle) will look for her fourth win in five starts for trainer Sandy Beatty. Bowery (Downbytheseaside), a winner in the first leg is also entered in the third division, will go to the gate for Miller and Morgan.

She Means Business (Pet Rock) and Osceola Hanover (Racing Hill) each have won a leg in the series and will be in action as well. Ryan Miller will have Tyler Smith driving She Means Business, while Smith will be in the bike with Osceola Hanover for trainer Scott Betts.
