Accelerator Repeats In Nova Scotia

Robert Blanchard's Accelerator ($11.80) registered his second consecutive win on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 11), reaching from the pocket to collar odds-on favourite Windmeredontmatter in the $1,050 pacing feature at Inverness Raceway.

The six-year-old Driven To Win entire and driver Gregory Sparling sprinted off from post three to control a :29.1 quarter before yielding control to Windmeredontmatter (Lewis MacDonell) shortly thereafter. Windmeredontmatter managed to pull the half back to 1:00.1, but was tested in the second circuit by the first-over Eastview Dexter (Mark Pezzarello) while Accelerator remained closely perched in the pocket.

Despite being bottled up by the outer tier on the final turn, Accelerator found room in upper stretch and collared Windmeredontmatter by a half length in 2:00 for his fifth win of the season and 18th of his career. Eastview Dexter stayed on to save third, just a neck out of the runner-up spot.
