The capital oval of P.E.I. will be the stage for the speediest sophomores in the region as the Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing colts converge on Monday, Aug. 11 during Old Home Week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 13-dash presentation has a 6 p.m. (ADT) opening post time with a pair of $17,620 Atlantic Sires Stakes A divisions highlighting the card.

The first A division is in race nine with a competitive group of six colts chasing the winner’s share of the purse. Malevolent comes in as the 5-2 morning line favourite with Paul Langille training and driving the son of Malicious-Lady Kelleigh Anne for owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille. The 11-time winner will start from post one after three straight second-place finishes. Other top entries include Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) and Woodmere Rocketman (Gilles Barrieau).

Rosetown Eclipse (Corey MacPherson) comes into the second A division in race 13 as the top choice from post three for owners Rosetown Stable and Jim and Mike Gorman. The son of Bet The Moon-Brodys Leona was never better than his latest start, in which he took a new record of 1:54.3. Bentley (Campbell) will try to spoil the party from post four along with post-five starter Here On Earth (Jason Hughes).

The Atlantic Sires Stakes also has $6,000 B divisions in races two, six and 11.
