P J Clark established a new track record for a four-year-old trotting horse Tuesday night at Pocono Downs thanks to his victory in the featured trot of the week

Driven by Jim Morrill, Jr., P J Clark crossed the finish line with the teletimer stopped at 1:53. The previous track mark was 1:53.3 and owned by Snazzy Hot Rod (Tim Tetrick). The date for this mile was April 22, 2008.

Morrill, Jr., left out of the four hole to assume the lead with the opening split timed in :27.4 before Springboard (Jim Taggart, Jr.) became the new leader at the half, clicked off in :58.4. But it was P J Clark taking the nine-horse field to the three-quarter pole in 1:24 and winning the race by 2-1/4 lengths over Shibboleth Hanover (David Ingraham). Badboy Paparazzi A (Mike Simons) was third.

Laura Shock trains P J Clark, a four-year-old Broadway Hall colt owned by the Hauser Brothers Racing Enterprises LLC, Orangeburg, N.Y. It was the trotter’s seventh win in 21 starts this season, and the lion’s share of the purse lifted his career earnings past $100,000 for the second straight year.
