Shecouldbegood N took the featured $7,800 fillies & mares pace at Tioga Downs on Saturday (July 31).
Talk Show Chica went to the lead and hit the first quarter in :27. She used a :29.4 second quarter and led to the half in :56.4. Come Get The Cash came first over and put pressure on the leader down the backstretch. Talk Show Chica continued to lead and hit three-quarters first in 1:24.3.
As they made the turn for home, Talk Show Chica still had the lead. Pretty Image snuck through on the inside as Shecouldbegood N came charging four wide down the stretch. Shecouldbegood N blew by to win in 1:53.2. Come Get The Cash was second best with Talk Show Chica hanging on to finish third.
Shecouldbegood N is an eight-year-old mare by Well Said. She is trained by Patti Harmon for owners Harmon Racing Stable, Lawrence Kittenplan, and William Vanwie. It was her fifth win of the season. She now has 23 victories. Mike Simons drove the $8.70 winner.
Leading driver Wally Hennessey’s four wins came with She Matters ($4.40), Elm Grove Nellie ($2.70), Queen Me Again ($8.70), and Cash Infusion ($2.50). That gives him 95 wins on the season. Braxten Boyd drove three winners on the card and is second on the list with 52 victories. Mike Merton has reached the winner’s circle 40 times this season for third best. Jody Jamieson (24) and Marcus Miller (15) round out the top five.
Mike Deters has trained the most winners this season with 35 wins. Jim McDonald is second in wins with 23 tallies. Patti Harmon and Gaston Lareau are tied for third with 16 victories each. Marc Major is fifth with 15 wins.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Sunday (Aug. 1) with a 10-race card starting at 1:00 p.m. (EDT).
