MacPherson Wins CDP Features

Dusty Lane Shelby converted from the pocket to win Saturday’s $1,400 Open Trot at Charlottetown Driving Park while B J Cruiser rallied off cover to take the $2,400 top pace – both driven by Corey MacPherson

, who won a total of four races on the 12-race card.

Dusty Lane Shelby and MacPherson played follow the leader as Saulsbrook Balance carved out fractions of :30.3, 1:01.2 and 1:31.4. The eight-year-old Imperial Angus-Dusty Lane Nipper mare, trained by Mitchell Tierney, used a :29.3 final frame to propel herself to the winner’s circle. She stopped the clock in 2:01.3 winning by three-quarters of a length over the pacesetter. Dunmore Alpha (Ed Smallwood) recovered from an early break to finish four lengths back in third. Jaime Lynne Tierney of Cornwall, PE owns the winner of four races in 11 starts this year.

Five-year-old Yankee Cruiser-Noble Marty son B J Cruiser and MacPherson kicked home in :28.4 to win his assignment in 1:58.1 over favourite Pans O Silver (Brian MacPhee) for trainer and owner Jean Charles Belliveau of Dieppe, NB. Mighty And Strong (Ron Matheson) was third. It was his third win in 11 seasonal starts.
