A pair of $10,000 divisions kicked off the first round of the Signature Pacing Series on Saturday afternoon at Flamboro Downs.
With Mark MacDonald in the bike for trainer Casie Coleman, Wildmotion front-stepped his way past panels of :27.2, :58 and 1:27.1 en route to a career-best 1:55.1 victory. The five-year-old Camotion-Little Wild Thing gelding held off the favoured Pieraz (Roger Mayotte) by over a length for the win while the pocket-sitter, Donttrytostopme (Mike Langdon), rounded out the top three.
The winner of nine races in 18 starts this year has earned over $55,000 for By A Mile Stable of Cambridge, Ont. Wildmotion has won 16 races lifetime with earnings totaling $62,721.
In the second split, Rust Belt (Scott Coulter) and Fact Of Fame (Simon Allard) battled for the top spot past the first quarter marker in :28 seconds, but during the second interval Anthony Haughan gave Greystone Cash the signal and the three-year-old Million Dollar Cam-Speedy Helen gelding rolled to command. The fan favourite reached the half in :56.4 before he was faced with a first-over challenge from longshot Stigma Seelster (Mike Horner) at three-quarters in 1:26. Those two battled down the lane, but it was Greystone Cash who prevailed as he pulled ahead by over a length to win in 1:54.3.
Stigma Seelster stayed for second and Fact Of Fame finished third.
Owned by Patrick Ryan of London, Ont. and trained by Bruce Goit, Greystone Cash, who only made one start at two, scored his eighth win in 17 career starts pushing his bankroll to $76,675.
