Cruisinart edged out his stablemate P H Mike to win Saturday’s featured $900 Winners Over Pace for trainer Myles Heffernan at Northside Downs

Coming off a second-place finish to Outlawpositivcharg in last week’s Invitational Pace, Cruisinart and driver Keith Dicks captured the lead after the :28.4 opening quarter put up by P H Mike and Heffernan. Once in command, the six-year-old gelded son of Real Artist-Yieldtotheprincess glided past the half in :57.4 and three-quarters in 1:27.2 before his stablemate laid on the pressure. The odds-on favourite, however, managed to hold on by a head to win in 1:57.4. Odyssey Killean (Edgar Jacobs) finished third.
Johnny Heffernan of Reserve Mines, N.S. owns the winner of two races in six seasonal starts. For Cruisinart, the win was his 14th lifetime score and lifted his total bankroll to $76,441.
