Alberta's racing industry has now witnessed two high-profile departures within a 24-hour span as word comes today that Dr. David C. Reid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Horse Racing Alberta is retiring
as of July 15, 2009.
The 2005 Cam Fella Award winner for meritorious service to the Canadian harness racing industry, Reid served as HRA's Chairman for six years and the CEO since 2008.
The announcement from HRA comes one day after Les Butler, vice-president of racing and gaming at Edmonton Northlands, resigned for personal reasons.
