There's nothing like the combination of horses and a fundraiser in the summer to bring out the best

in everyone.

The biggest day of 2009 at Woodstock Raceway is set for Saturday afternoon, July 11. The race program is in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

"Our first attempt at this last year raised $4,000 and was an overwhelming success, and this year will be even better," says organizer Louise Jamieson of Woodstock. "Everyone we asked for the silent and penny auction donations has really stepped up. Golf packages, Blue Jays tickets, an extreme harness, a Cam Fella picture. We have cooler blankets to present after every race and hats signed by the drivers, face painting for the children, really too much to mention," Jamieson says.

A highlight of the program will be the Mildred Williams International Women's Driving Series. The lady drivers, fully licensed by the Ontario Racing Commission, will take to the track in the second and fourth races. Also on the agenda is the first round of the Woodstock's new Oxford County Trotting Series.

Through September 19, post time each Saturday at Woodstock Raceway is at 1 p.m. with Tuesday programs turning to the starting gate at 4 p.m.
