Dayson Delivers; Palone Wins Five

Millionaire Dayson pulled the pocket into the final turn, outkicked Classicality in the lane and captured Monday’s $20,000 Open 1 Trot at The Meadows.

Dayson and Dave Palone were content to release Classicality and Brian Zendt before the quarter, but they were the stronger pair late, clicking off a 27.3 final panel en route to a 2-1/4-length victory over Classicality in 1:52.1. Glidinthruparadise completed the ticket.

Ron Burke trains Dayson, a six-year-old Conway Hall-Nerveys Taurus gelding who now has banked $1,077,712, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and J&T Silva-Purnell&Libby.

Palone collected five wins on the 13-race card, including three for Burke.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Tuesday, when the program features a $1,520.20 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 1:05 p.m.
