Sevruga continued his dominant 2012 season with an easy win in the featured Open Trot on Sunday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The race carried a purse of $50,000.

Sevruga, who came in on a three-race winning streak, left from post position No. 4 in a field of nine as the 1-2 favourite and sat the pocket at the quarter behind early leader Windsun Galaxie. The four-year-old gelding trained by Julie Miller was then urged to the outside by driver Andy Miller and took over the lead shy of the three-eighths mile marker, a lead he wouldn’t relinquish. He never got a serious threat from the rest of his foes and won by three and a half lengths in 1:52.3. Anders Bluestone finished second while Rose Run Hooligan finished third.

Sevruga, the offspring of SJs Caviar and Stunning Lindsey, won for the seventh time in nine starts this year. Owned by KDM Stables Corp, he now has 14 lifetime victories and career earnings of $256,991.

In addition to the Open Trot, Sunday night’s racing at Pocono featured the conclusion of Grand Circuit Week and the Pennsylvania All-Stars races. There were five $32,000 PA All-Stars divisions of three-year-old trotting fillies, and the winners were: Cant Have My Moni (Cantab Hall-Moni Maker), owned by Moni Maker Stable, trained by Frank Antonacci, and driven by Tim Tetrick, in 1:54.2; Lady Andi (Andover Hall-Lady Lifter), owned by M&L Of Delaware LLC and Little E LLC, trained by Larry Rathbone, and driven by Dave Palone, in 1:55.1; On The Bright Side (Cantab Hall-Passionate Glide), owned by Brittany Farms, trained by Jimmy Takter, and driven by Dave Palone, in 1:54.3; Oasis Dream (Cantab Hall-Dream Angel), owned by Fredericka Caldwell and Bluestone Farms LLC, trained by Bob Stewart, and driver by Tim Tetrick, in 1:54; and End Of Innocence (Broadway Hall-Pacific Centerfold), owned by Patricia Hogan and Lohmeyer Racing LLC, trained by Ed Lohmeyer, and driven by David Miller, in 1:55.4.

There were also three $50,000 PA All-Star divisions held for the three-year-old pacing fillies, and the winners of those races were: Moonlit Dragon (Dragon Again-Moonlit Bay), owned by Robert Mondillo and Donald Robinson, trained by Bruce Saunders, and driven by Eric Carlson, in 1:50.4; Kiss Dont Bite (Four Starzzz Shark-Kiss Me Once Again), owned by Andrew Berg, Bruce Warren, David Schwartz, and In The Red LLC, trained by Noel Daley, and driven by Andy Miller, in 1:51; and Podges Lady (The Panderosa-Four Starzzzz Hope), owned by Sawgrass Farms LLC, trained by Joe Seekman, and driver by Eric Ledford, in 1:51.4.
