Truro Raceway's number one reinsman Ryan Ellis extended his lead atop the standings with five more winning drives during Sunday's harness racing card.
Ellis kicked off his five-bagger with back-to-back wins in the second and third races aboard Hollis White trainees M M Lass ($8.90) and Miss Miss Miss Fit ($4.70). He later returned to victory lane with Winner Panic ($17.80) upsetting in the sixth for trainer Kenneth Greene.
Ellis' own gelding San Marco Hanover ($8) gave him the grand slam as he romped to a nine and a quarter length triumph in the ninth race. The 1:57.2 clocking was the fastest of the day.
With Ellis in the sulky for his fifth win, Secret Fantasy ($4.80) closed out the card two races later with his third straight victory for conditioner Wayne Merner.
The Brookfield, N.S. resident's victors had a combined winning margin of 22-1/2 lengths. Ellis' 29 victories so far this year gives him a 12-point lead over Darren Crowe on the track's leaderboard.
